A LITTLE BIT OF ANTHROPOLOGY
The Bones
Right now im taking a class in Anthropology. First we studied ostiology, which is the human and African ape bone structure. There are 14 philanges, 5 meta carpels, and 8 carpels in the human hand. Our lower arm consists of the radial and ulna bones and our upper arm consists of the bone humerus. The skull consists of the front, parietal, occipital, temporal, zygomatic, and maxilla sections. The mandible or lower jaw is considered seperate. There is a large hole at the base of our skulls called the foramen magnem, this is where is spinal cord connects to the brain.You can see an image on the skeleton here.
The Genetics
Did you know that human DNA is 99% exactly the same as that of the Gorillas? Many people now recognize that apes are very bright but they are actually comparable to our level of intellegence. They are proven to have concious thought, can be taught sign language, and go through mourning procedures. They also use many availible resources as tools.
Archeology
There are many steps in digging an archeological site. It most certainly isn't Indiana Jones where ancient artifacts are justs lying around in caves. Sometimes it can take months of work on one site justs to find a genuine bone or artifact. Usually they are burried under many layers of strata. Each site is divided up into a grid and each find is carefully documented and tested. When a bone is found it is plastered and very carefully dug out with brushes on top and the rock surrounding it is cut away from the earth. The final extraction is done back at the lab.
